Leadership Courses

The Town of Ajax offers a number of leadership courses. The courses listed, can be found in the Community Recreation and Parks Guide. Registration can be completed through Active Ajax or in person, at one of our facilities.

HIGH FIVEŽ - Principles of Healthy Child Development

This training course focuses on understanding children and how to create programs that support healthy child development. This is a mandatory qualification for Town of Ajax part time staff working with children ages 6-12yrs.


Identify and manage risk, and improve the quality of children's programs. Learn how to use the QUEST 2 Tool and how to enter data into the HIGH FIVEŽ Database to track an organization's progress and identify areas of need. Pre-requisite: HIGH FIVEŽ - Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) or HIGH FIVEŽ Sport.

Standard First Aid & CPR C

Learn adult, child and infant CPR, choking procedures, the chain of survival and how to treat heart attack and stroke victims. Discuss techniques to handle an emergency scene, how to treat shock, unconsciousness and fainting victims, wounds, bleeding, bone and joint injuries. This course also covers head and spinal injuries, chest and eye injuries, burns, diabetes, seizures and allergies.

Sign Language 

Learn a new language! This program will guide you through the basic instructions of American Sign Language. Taught by a certified ASL instructor.

Leadership Camp

Youth will discover the importance of leading through influence, by embracing challenges and interactive workshops. Take part in team building exercises, problem solving, and initiative tasks. Youth will develop their leadership potential, be provided with opportunities to learn, grow and get involved in their community. Before and After Hours not provided.
